Clinical Pearls Didactic Title: Improving Health Care Outcomes by Strengthening Parent-Child Relationships – Dr. Simone Kortstee, C. Psych., PhD

Learning Objectives: 

  1. Discuss with parents/caregivers three types of stress responses and their impact on health outcomes. 
  2. Distinguish secure from insecure attachment behaviours. 
  3. Explain to parents/caregivers the mitigating effect of supportive adult attachment behaviours on stress in children and adolescents.
  4. Use strategies and tools to monitor and enhance parent-child relationships.
